Scentsy Story

My name is Charity K Samora. I partnered with Scentsy as an Independent Fragrance Consultant on 7 August 2016. I loved scented candles, and one day my kitten, Patches, found the flame. I told her, “You’re not going to burn yourself, and you’re not going to burn the house down.” That night, my estranged husband dropped me off at a party. I wasn’t allowed to drive yet because I was 6 weeks out of back surgery. The consultant asked about my favorite scents. I told her about the incident with Patches.
Let me back up. In the late 1970s, we were at my grandparents' for Thanksgiving. My mother said when they checked on me. I was sound asleep in the highchair with my nose in the whipped cream on the pumpkin pie.
Fast forward to the party. My husband, Jr., and I were on the brink of divorce. We’d been separated for 5 years and 11 months. At that point, we were only in contact because of medical reasons, which is why he drove to and from the party.
After hearing the Thanksgiving story, the consultant went through her testers and found the one for the Coconut Pumpkin Pie. She handed it to me. “You’ll love this one.”
I smelled it and decided right then and there that I needed to partner with Scentsy. Because of our situation, he was angry that I dared to ask for the money for the join kit. I was equally mad about having to ask, but he was nice enough to give it to me two days later. The first year was the hardest. My sponsor came to me with business questions. I was angry and confused at first. But when she left the business a short time later, I learned it actually built a really great business foundation.
I’m a vendor at events. They’re the bread and butter of my business. Jr. goes with me. Even at our worst, he’s been my safe place, my rock, and my biggest supporter. Partnering with Scentsy was 100% the best decision I could’ve made. The journey saved my marriage and life. After working multiple events and spending time together, Jr. and I have become best friends.
In 2018, the doctor said I’d die if I didn’t have the gastric sleeve surgery and that I needed to find a reason to live. Those reasons: my furkid, aka puppy, Cotterpin; our special needs niece, Lexi; and her older brother, Russel.
I love the business for three reasons:
1. Meeting new people
2. The Scentsy Club – Customers control what, where, and when their products are shipped. The Always Get My Bar Perk allows customers to receive their favorite scent as a bar for as long as it’s in their club, even when it’s discontinued for everyone else. It must be added while in season.
3. The chance to travel – After 14 years of dealing with agoraphobia, in 2018, I spent some time in Colorado with Jr’s cousins. San Luis is one of my favorite places! In 2019, I traveled to Austin, Texas.
4. With this journey, I can finally help others whenever possible, and that is the best feeling in the world. At least it is for me.
